About

Mariam is a true cosmopolitan, raised between Venezuela, the Middle East and Pakistan. Years of experience in the art world and professional relationships with writers, curators and artists provoked the realisation that the traditional gallery model simply wasn’t serving the interests of the budding artist-collector relationship. She founded Bahaar, motivated by a desire to challenge the white-cube gallery and bridge the gap between emerging artists from South Asia and the Middle East, and young collectors globally.
Mariam completed her degree in Fine Art from the Indus Valley School of Art and Architecture in Karachi in 2010 before moving to Dubai to work with The Third Line (TTL) as Communications Manager. TTL champions contemporary Middle Eastern art and artists locally, regionally and internationally. In 2013, Mariam relocated to London - where she is now based - and began work as Gallery Manager at Edge of Arabia: an exhibitions and production platform for artists working in the wider Middle East. After hosting a number of successful exhibitions and events, locally and internationally, Mariam is now pouring all her expertise and passion into bringing Bahaar to you.
