Hira Zubair
At the heart of Hira’s work is the paradoxical notion that death brings peace – an idea deeply embedded in culture, but which her art seeks to challenge. In an age of chaos and uncertainty, we are bombarded with news of violent crime, war and natural disaster every day, making the very idea of peace appear unrealistic. Hira’s work looks for other modes to struggle for peace and enlightenment, questioning the pessimism of posing death as the only escape and eternal peace.
Hira graduated from the National College of Arts, with the Haji Sharif Miniature Award in 2010 and is based in Lahore, Pakistan. She experiments with sculpture and printmaking, however her preferred form of self-expression is miniature painting. She has participated in many exhibitions, including the ‘9th Emerging Talent 2011’ held at VM Art Gallery, Karachi (2011) , has worked as a curator and owns D-Code Art Studio.
